Stabilization and biodiversity

Pointe-des-Cascades
2016

As part of a real estate development project, the municipality of Pointe-des-Cascades hired Opaysage to create a maintenance-free zone on the outskirts of an area along the Soulanges canal to stabilize, beautify, and promote the biodiversity of the site. For this assignment, we proposed several varieties of native shrubs and perennials with stabilizing and pollinating properties. Since its creation in 2014, this area has become an environment of choice for wildlife and requires very little maintenance.

Over the two years spent working on the site, we saw many birds and butterflies drawn to this green corridor. It has been self-sustaining since 2016 and is a fine example of integrating sustainable landscaping into a municipal project.
