Coworking space

2021

Approached by a young company to develop the outdoor environment of a future coworking space, our team seized the opportunity to enhance its surroundings, creating a green and welcoming area for both workers and clients alike. The concept development thus centered on two fundamental and obvious principles: emphasizing the environmental and human values of the site that this shared workspace will occupy. While respecting the client's parking needs, we worked with the existing wooded areas and proposed to preserve 400 m2 of them, in addition to planting 42 indigenous trees of various species to promote biodiversity and enhance the existing environment. Furthermore, the proposed planting will help reduce the heat island effect through tree cover over mineral areas. The choice of materials focused as much as possible on permeable and/or recycled surfaces; sidewalks and some parking spaces are also permeable (vegetated cellular paving and stone dust), which contributes to rainwater management, another priority aspect of our proposal. A vegetated swale of 120 m2 (rain garden) is designed in the southern sector of the parking lot, and the central wooded area includes open stone borders that allow for the collection of runoff water.

In terms of the project's human value, the creation of spacious and shaded pedestrian accesses and the implementation of 30 bicycle parking spaces encourage active transportation to the building. Large areas have also been proposed to promote social activities and exchanges, and the choice of furniture offers a relaxed working environment. Vegetative screens have also been integrated to provide users with intimate and natural outdoor workspaces.
